We are a Family run firm of 4 Generations and were founded By George Ansell in the Village of Abbots Langley Hertfordshire in 1920.
George was followed into Bookmaking by his son Cyril (Dick) Ansell in 1961 and Dick was granted the first Bookmakers permit issued in the Watford area . He was joined the same year by his son Brian Ansell and together they opened the first shop under the Ansells banner at Queens Road ,Watford. A Shop still in operation today.
Over the following years a number of shops were opened, sold and relocated and in 1983 they were joined by Richard Ansell, son of Brian. Brian Ansell remains a partner to this day along with Richard Ansell who took over the general running of the firm in 2001. Further shops were opened at St Albans Road, Watford in 2003 and at Katherine Place, Leavesden, Abbots Langley in October of 2006. Ansells currently operate 7 shops all within the Watford area.
